We're going to talk about my upcoming gig on Nov. 9th - a Joni Mitchell tribute.  We're going to talk about the Sheila Jordan events in December:  Dec. 2 - huge master class at The Jazzschool, Dec. 3:  Big concert at the Freight & Salvage with Kitty Margolis, Madeline Eastman, Ed Reed, me and of course Sheila!!  We'll also talk about the Jazzschool Institute and I'm bringing my student Kyra Gordan with me, who won the Mark Murphy Vocal Scholarship last year.  Oh, and she, too, will be performing on Dec. 3rd.  Too much to talk about in an hour but we're going to try.  AND hopefully we'll be celebrating the re-election of President Obama that morning, by then we should know and we're going to be really, really happy when we find out it's Barack Obama for 4 more years.  Tune in.  It will be fun because Alica Clancy is funny and fun!

This week-long program is designed to help singers define, create and perform music that is authentic and unique. Jazz singing is like a tree that can grow branches in many genres and styles; with roots firmly grounded, this 5-day intensive emphasizes the technical, creative and spiritual aspects of singing and serves as a catalyst for artistic growth no matter where your path leads. The performance on Saturday, August 18th is open to the public and takes place in Hardymon Hall at the Jazzschool.

A special concert honoring one of the most influential and original jazz singers of our time, featuring the “next generation” of vocal jazz artists who emerged with the help of Murphy’s mentorship, influence and support during his residency in San Francisco in the 80’s. Each of this evening’s performers has gone on to establish her own strong and unique presence on the world jazz scene. There will an opportunity to meet and greet Mark after the concert. Don't miss this once in a lifetime love-fest!

All proceeds will go towards establishing a new "Mark Murphy Vocal Jazz Scholarship" at Berkeley's Jazzschool.
